    Description

I am Suman Kumar from Muzaffarpur, Bihar. I have done my graduation in B.B.A. (Financial Management) from LNMCBM, Bihar University. Than I joined ICICI Bank but I am always wanted to do something for the society but was clueless on how to do it. I got to know about the Social entrepreneurship course and realized that this would be the right platform for his to follow my dream and left the job. Currently I am enrolled in this course, learning and exploring the various dimensions of social entrepreneurship from Tata Institute of social Sciences, Mumbai. Now I am going to start my pilot based on sustainable agriculture in Ahmednagar, Maharashtra and is supported by Centre for Social Entrepreneurship, Tata Institute of social Sciences, Mumbai.

    “A step towards sustainable farming”

Many experiences in the course of pursuing M.A in Social Entrepreneurship and otherwise opened my eyes to the problem of low agricultural growth in Ahmednagar, Maharashtra. On mapping the complexity of the problems existing in the low agricultural growth in Ahmednagar, Maharashtra, a need for a stable and accountable institution was identified. My aspiration of intervention thus, is to improve the quality agricultural growth through the pilot venture activity is to reduce the gap between demand and supply of seasonal organic fruits and vegetable by connecting the farmers and household which result in better livelihood   of farmers as well as batter health among the consumer.

Increasing awareness among consumers of the health benefits, coupled with rising disposable incomes, is making organic vegetables and fruits the preferred choice across many Indian kitchens. And increasing awareness among farmers to grow organic vegetable and fruits to meet the demand of community and increase in household income among farmers.

The venture will run on a supply chain model of organic vegetable among middle class and upper middle class household of Ahmednagar, Maharashtra to ensure the fair price & quality among the consumers as well as good price and good input supply for organic vegetable and quality tanning for organic vegetable farming among small and marginal farmers in Ahmednagar, Maharashtra. To increase livelihood of small and marginal farmers in Ahmednagar, Maharashtra. To increase the production of organic vegetable and reduce the improper use of fertilizer as well as to improve the soil fertility of small and marginal farmers of Ahmednagar, Maharashtra. To increase the sales of organic vegetable among household of Ahmednagar, Maharashtra. To increase the use of new technology for farming among small and marginal farmers of Ahmednagar, Maharashtra. The operations of the venture will run with the revenue generated from the supply of products and thus by the very fourth month the venture will be financially self-sustaining.

Our pilot intervention aspires to create small but substantial and sustainable socio-economic impact by the end of three months- To kindle motivation and optimism towards organic vegetable farming and consumption among the farmers and the middle & upper middle class household of Ahmednagar, Maharashtra. We believes that by accomplishing these substantial goals steadily, large deep rooted social, economic and environmental impacts will be created.
